THE TURBULENT saga of Sven-Goran Eriksson’s stewardship of Notts County came to an end last night when the Swede left the League Two club following yet another change of ownership.
Having arrived last July, following the ill-fated takeover by Munto Finance, to say that the Premier League could be reached in five years, Eriksson was released as the club’s director of football with four years to run on his contract.
The news came after a consortium of investors bought out the majority shareholding of the club’s executive chairman, Peter Trembling.
Eriksson, a former England manager, is said to have come to an amicable agreement with Ray Trew, the former Lincoln City chairman who has emerged as an investor in County and is thought to be behind the new takeover.
Trembling and the club’s CEO, Gary Townsend, will also leave.
