Turkey: Rangers midfielder Tugay Kerimoglu has been thrown out of Turkey's squad after reacting badly to his substitution in Monday night's victory against Belgium. Tugay, taken off eight minutes before half-time, threw his shirt to the ground as he walked off the pitch during the 2-0 win. "The coach said that he had shown a lack of respect for the team," said team spokesman Turgay Yarbar.
Czech Republic: Midfielder Radek Bejbl could be on his way to Sunderland after manager Peter Reid confirmed his interest in the Atletico Madrid star. Reid spent eight days at Euro 2000 and was impressed by Bejbl's displays against France and Holland, although he has warned that the deal is far from complete. "We've got an interest in Radek but deals are complex nowadays," Reid told Sunderland's website. "He's a player I rate highly but I can't say too much more now."
Italy: Captain Paolo Maldini should be fit for the quarter-finals despite suffering an injury scare in Monday night's 2-1 defeat of Sweden. Maldini limped out of their Group B match with a knee injury sustained in a clash with Celtic's Henrik Larsson, but coach Dino Zoff said: "It doesn't appear too serious." There are also fitness doubts over defender Mark Iuliano and midfielder Luigi di Biagio, scorer of Italy's first goal in the 2-1 success.
