Roy Evans has resigned as director of football at English Second Division Swindon after only four months in charge.
Evans (52), decided to step down after a meeting with new Swindon chairman Willie Carson failed to provide assurances about money to spend on new players.
The former champion jockey Carson heads a consortium of four major shareholders which took over the club two weeks ago from Danny Donegan, who brought Evans to Swindon in August.
Carson said his consortium had inherited debts of £3.2 million sterling, of which £500,000 is owed in tax and £200,000 in rent and council rates.
