Examiner moves to wind up firm

AN application to wind up Bell Lines will be made to the High Court today

AN application to wind up Bell Lines will be made to the High Court today. Mr Bill Shipsey SC, for the examiner, Mr David Hughes, told the High Court yesterday he would be asking the court today to refuse to confirm proposals as underwritten by an investment which was no longer taking place.

In those circumstances he would be asking for an order to wind up the company.

An earlier court hearing had been told that new investors, who were negotiating with the examiner, had requested an adjournment to enable them to finalise their decision in relation to a proposed Pounds 5 million injection. The matter had been adjourned until today.

Yesterday, Mr Shipsey said that all 16 interested parties had been contacted but he was not sure if all were present in court.
