Just an observation on the Irish Amateur Swimming Association (IASA) meeting last Sunday, during which they voted themselves out of existence and voted in a new body, Swim Ireland. At the meeting it was agreed that no voting for an executive should take place because so many clubs had been disenfranchised. The reason for this was that the information on the structure of the new association arrived to the clubs late and, subsequently, many were unable to hold AGMs to nominate delegates. This was acknowledged and it was agreed that, yes, it would be the wrong way to begin a new organisation. Elections then took place for an interim executive, which is in place until April 24th.

Why then, when it was acknowledged that voting should not take place to vote in a full-term executive, was it considered reasonable to vote for an interim executive and what implications does this have for the current Swim Ireland executive?
