Keith Fahey has re-signed for St Patrick's Athletic, vowing to get his career back on track with his old club following his dismissal by Drogheda United earlier this month.
The former Arsenal and Aston Villa trainee and Irish youth international midfielder was released by Drogheda for disciplinary reasons and returns to Richmond Park for free, a year after St Patrick's received a small fee and fellow midfielder Alan Reilly in exchange for him.
"That's behind me now and I'm just looking forward to playing for Pat's," said 23-year-old Fahey, who refused to discuss his problems at United Park. "I just want to work hard and get my career back on track."
Pending his registration, Fahey should come straight into the side for their visit to Longford Town tonight. St Patrick's manager John McDonnell says he's delighted to have Fahey back. "We know all about Keith and what he can do. It will give us a bit of extra guile in midfield and he's terrific at set-pieces."
Ex-Leeds United and Halifax midfielder Brenton Leister, also unveiled by St Patrick's yesterday, isn't match fit yet and won't feature for a week or two.
McDonnell hopes to sign former Manchester United trainee striker Kevin Grogan, who has made a full recovery from a career-threatening pelvic injury following an operation and rehabilitation with specialists in Belgium.
Longford have injury problems for the game with defenders Stephen Paisley (hamstring) and Kevin Doherty (calf) joining goalkeeper Shay Kelly and striker Dave Mooney on the sidelines.
