The FAI and Department of Defence officials agreed to further discussions about Eircom Park and its impact on Casement aerodrome at Baldonnel following discussions yesterday.

Defence officials were keen to emphasise that the planning application by the FAI for their new stadium is only being examined by the department "in the context of air safety issues alone". Baldonnel is the primary training facility for the Irish Air Corps.

Both parties accepted that the height of the stadium, as planned, breaches International Civil Aviation Organisation guidelines.
