TWO FIXTURES planned for Fairyhouse’s controversial “inside track” next month have been transferred to other courses.

Punchestown will stage the meeting originally set for Wednesday, February 9th, while Navan plays host to the fixture on Wednesday, February 23rd.

Fairyhouse manager Peter Roe explained yesterday: “We have been undertaking remedial work on the inside track since problems were highlighted at our meeting on November 3rd.

“Unfortunately, the adverse weather conditions through December delayed this work and it has not healed quickly enough to host the two midweek February meetings, which were both scheduled for the inside track.

“With the help of consultants and ground specialists, we continue to work on the problem areas and we are happy with the progress being made.”

Fairyhouse will race on the main course in eight days, Saturday, February 19th. The Easter festival is unaffected and will run from April 24th-26th.
