RACING:THE FAIRYHOUSE authorities have decided to switch tomorrow's card to next Thursday, December 2nd, due to the adverse weather forecast for the weekend, with ground frosts predicted for tonight and tomorrow.
“Following a committee meeting this evening we have decided to move the Fairyhouse Saturday card to next Thursday in order to give the best possible chance of racing going ahead on Sunday,” said Fairyhouse manager Peter Roe.
“With three top-quality Grade One races on the premier day of National Hunt racing in Ireland pre-Christmas, we want to do everything possible to preserve Sunday’s card.
“Due to continuing track work we planned to race on a small section of the same ground on both days of the winter festival. In light of the adverse weather forecast we feel this section of ground might be unable to take two days racing back-to-back.
“We will be putting frost covers at the take-off and landings of all fences and hurdles to protect Sunday’s ground.”
