Fallon out of Connacht final

Ja Fallon has been ruled out of Sunday's Connacht final with a knee injury

Ja Fallon has been ruled out of Sunday's Connacht final with a knee injury. The news that Galway's centre forward was likely to miss the match with Sligo hasn't come as a surprise as he has struggled with tendonitis for over a month now. Fallon may, however, be named among the substitutes.

"We won't be naming replacements until the weekend," said manager John O'Mahony, "so that Ja will get as long as possible to see if he can play any role in the game. The knee has been giving him trouble for a while - it flared up before the Roscommon match - and he hasn't been able to train apart from some light stuff.

"The only cure is rest and a specific exercise regime but it's not a thing that he's ruled out in the long term."

Tommy Joyce slots in at centre forward in place of Fallon. He is familiar with the requirements of the attack having been a regular pick over the past couple of seasons.
