It's not often a horse wins a Group 1 and ends up with even more to prove because of it but that is the poser put to the unbeaten Fasliyev in tomorrow's Prix Morny at Deauville.
Aidan O'Brien, successful in this race with Orpen last year, has chosen the Coventry and Heinz 57 winner in preference to Rossini but it was that Heinz success earlier this month that put question marks next to Fasliyev.
He looked set to win a weak Group 1 just as a 2/7 favourite should when taking the lead but then veered dramatically before running on close home.
O'Brien blamed laziness and the soft ground for the wayward passage but Fasliyev cannot afford a repeat of that if he hopes to make it five from five for the season.
Godolphin run their unbeaten City On A Hill, winner of the July Stakes, and his form was boosted by the Gimcrack win of Mull Of Kintyre during the week.
Sheikh Mohammed also has the John Gosden trained pair Bachir and Warm Heart.
