Fenton looks the one to follow

Racing at Clonmel today is dependant on a 7.00 a.m. inspection but track manager Jerry Desmond was upbeat yesterday and said: "The inspection is due to a forecast for a heavy frost overnight but we're expecting a thaw in the morning and I'd be pretty hopeful of going ahead."

Considering the two scheduled steeplechases for this meeting were cancelled last Friday, the conditions if racing does get the green light are sure to be testing but one man who will be hoping for a good afternoon is Philip Fenton who looks to have excellent prospects of landing two of the six races.

Fenton shared the amateur riders championship with Paul Maloney last season and if Cailin's Perk and Endless Magic justify probable favouritism, he will join Karl Wyse at the top of the amateur table with 15 winners so far this term.

Cailin's Perk made her racecourse debut in a hot bumper at Gowran Park last month, drifted in the market but still ran a blinding race to run the Cheltenham hope Tuesday to a length when dead-heating for second with Ri Na Realta.

Over 12 lengths behind were the winners Saddlers Mark, Supreme Schemer and Colonel Braxton so in that light, today's opposition looks none too frightening.

The Thurles bumper winner Endless Magic was just beaten a head by Just Our Job at Navan but the way he fought back when headed suggests the half mile extra in the first division of the maiden hurdle should be very suitable. Ballygarvan could be the one for the forecast.
