Champions League:Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson refused to concede his side's Champions League hopes were over despite last night's draw with Bayer Leverkusen at Old Trafford.

"We're very much still in this cup tie. There will be goals over there, that's for sure."

Ferguson added: "We've got the spirit here and hopefully that will help us on Tuesday."

Manchester United and Republic of Ireland's inspirational skipper Roy Keane made a sensational comeback in last night's first leg semi-final.

Ferguson said he was happy to bring Keane back in, and emphasised he'll play in the return leg.

"Yeah, Roy will be back next week, he'll be alright."

And another man who was happy to see Keane return to action was Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy, who could hardly contain his delight.

"United missed Roy; we all missed him. When he came on he showed what he can do; running, blocking. He just lifts the whole side," said McCarthy, who was the studio analyst with TV3 last night.

"Roy's come on, made a great tackle, lifted the crowd. And he did what he does best, breaks things up. Selfishly, yeah, it's nice to see him back. When I saw him comming on, well . . . umph. But it's nice to see him back. I know it's only nine minutes, but I think he'll be delighted to be back, as we all are of course."

There will be huge relief that Keane may be back to his best for the Republic's opening game with Cameroon on June 1st.

Ferguson also confirmed Gary Neville has suffered the same injury as David Beckham - a broken metatarsal bone in his foot.

The United and England defender suffered the injury in the first half last night. He was carried off on a stretcher with the injury, which is expected to take six to eight weeks to heal.

With England's opening World Cup match against Sweden less than six weeks away on June 2nd, there are serious doubts as to whether Neville will play a part in the campaign in.

Ferguson feared the worst and said at the end of the game: "Unfortunately he's got a broken metatarsal, believe it or not, the same as David (Beckham). It's unbelievable, absolutely incredible."
