Bohemians 2 - UCD 1: With 25 minutes to go at Dalymount Park last night a section of the home support started calling for the head of Bohemians player-manager Gareth Farrelly. It provoked a response which makes his position that little bit safer this morning.
They were trailing by a goal and looking lethargic until Vinny Arkins picked the perfect time to open his account for his new employers when powerfully heading a Stephen Rice cross past UCD goalkeeper Darren Quigley in the 67th minute.
Bohemians then turned the game on its head by taking the lead with another bit of aerial prowess. Farrelly swung in a corner which Barry Ferguson gleefully nodded home. It could turn out to be a crucial moment in the hosts' season.
Bohemians got the worst possible start and it was their sluggishness at the back which got them into trouble as defender Ferguson was outpaced by Pat McWalter and was left with no option but to haul him down just a few paces from the penalty area.
Alan Cawley stepped up confidently and delivered the free-kick into the top corner of the net to leave Stephen O'Brien helpless.
Conor Sammon then headed over the bar shortly afterwards, but Bohemians saved the best for last.
