Championship specialists Fethard ran out comfortable winners of the Tipperary SF title at Thurles yesterday against an Aherlow side that finished with 13 men.
Fethard struck early with a Michael McCarthy goal after two minutes. They went 1-4 to 0-2 clear by the 20th minute but Aherlow rallied with four points.
In first-half injury time Aherlow suffered a major setback when Lionel Leonard was sidelined after receiving a second yellow card.
Fethard led 1-5 to 0-7 at half time but Aherlow drew level within six minutes of the restart. Fethard responded with a succession of unanswered points.
To add to Aherlow's woes, Gerry Peters was sent off five minutes from the end but by then they were a beaten team.
Fethard fully deserved their win which was due largely to the displays of Willie Morrissey, Tommy Sheehan, Joe P Luby, Michael Quinlan and Michael McCarthy.
