A delegation from the FAI have been told by Fifa officials in Zurich that the organisation will try to facilitate a partial resolution of the registration problems affecting 10 League of Ireland players before the weekend.

Fran Gavin, Eoin Hand and the league's legal advisor, Sarah O'Shea, were told a submission should be made to the players status department so that it can raise the matter at executive committee level. But, it was suggested, some of the cases might be resolved more immediately.
