RACING:NICOLAS CLEMENT is targeting the Prix Jean Prat with stable star French Fifteen following his luckless run in the Prix du Jockey Club on Sunday.

The three-year-old was sent off joint-favourite for the Chantilly Classic following his close-up second to subsequent Investec Derby hero Camelot in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in early May.

But having had no run at all down the inside of the track in the home straight, French Fifteen passed the post in 10th without even having had a real race.

While he does hold an entry in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, his trainer will instead prepare him for a return trip to Chantilly despite his last chastening experience at the venue.

“He has come out of the race fine, but it was a very disappointing day,” said Clement.

“He had the worst trip ever, as did a number of horses, and it was just a very frustrating race, especially after seeing Camelot win at Epsom a day earlier.

“We’ll aim him towards the Prix Jean Prat now on July 1st. We know he is a good horse at a mile and there is nothing for him over 10 furlongs, anyway.

“Hopefully we can get him back on track.”

I’ll Have Another will race from post 11 when he attempts to complete the American Triple Crown in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.

A field of 12 will go to post with the Kentucky Derby and Preakness hero a 4-5 chance on the morning-line odds in America.

Union Rags and Dullahan are seen as his biggest dangers having missed the second leg of the Triple Crown, as has been the case with many recent Belmont winners. They race from three and five respectively.

Doug O’Neill, trainer of I’ll Have Another, said: “Being in post position 11 will allow us to see how the pace sets up.”
