UCD collected their first senior championship title since 1968 with a fine display against St Vincent's at Parnell Park. In a team peppered with players from around the country, it was Tipperary senior Paddy O'Brien who made the most telling impact on the day and, after only 12 minutes, he slipped in for UCD's opening goal after two Vincent's players collided.

O'Brien found the net for the second time from a free to put UCD 2-06 to 0-8 ahead with two minutes gone in the second half. Six minutes later, Mick Gordon hammered home his side's third.
