Building on the success of the this year's event, the 2000 Fingal Golf Classic will be held from May 2nd-5th. The inaugural tournament attracted over 300 entries, 20 per cent of which came from the UK and Northern Ireland.
The classic, which aims to further the game in the north and west Dublin, will be played over four courses: Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, St Margaret's, Hollystown and Luttrellstown.
The Fingal Classic allows competitors to play all four courses, which are a superb mix of parkland and links challenges, at a vastly reduced cost. The entry fee is £150.00 per person and includes all competition fees and a gala dinner and prize giving at the Grand Hotel, Malahide, on the final night.
The event consists of 250 two-person teams playing better-ball stableford. All competitors must produce proof of their club handicap.
This year's prize fund has been doubled to £10,000 while the maximum handicap has been reduced for men (22) and women (28). For entry forms contact Cynthia Cope, Fingal Golf Classic, PO Box 6385, Dublin 15. Email: cynthia@carrgolf.com
