The golfing season may well be drawing to a close, but that still hasn't stopped one of Castletroy's ladies finishing off in some style and reducing her handicap in dramatic fashion. Playing in Tony Fitzgibbon's Captain's Prize to Ladies, Dympna Cremin certainly proved to be far and away the top player and almost recorded one of those magical scores in the 50s.

Playing off a handicap of 33 and on a course which was playing difficult on the day, Cremin brought it to it's knees with a superb nett score of 61, with her nearest challenger being the winner of Class 3, Patricia Lane Doyle (37) who had 68. Not surprisingly, Cremin's handicap has been severely reduced as, following her great score, she has shaved six shots off her handicap and will now play off 27.
