Finn Harps recent good form continued on Saturday night when they battled to a 1-0 victory over UCD. The only goal of the match came just a minute before half time when Sammy Johnston headed home Stuart Gauld's free kick.
Up until the goal the home side had created almost all of the noteworthy chances. They came close to breaking the deadlock midway through the half but Paddy McGrenaghan's long range drive was brilliantly tipped over by Seamus Kelly.
UCD had strong claims for a penalty turned down soon after when Eoin Bennis appeared to be up-ended inside the area by Jonathan Minnock.
On their second half display the students will feel they at least deserved a draw. They dominated the exchanges after the interval when the home side rarely threatened and squandered a couple of late opportunities.
