Leinster champion's Rathnure, lost their Wexford county crown to first time winners, St Martin's, at Enniscorthy yesterday.
There was never more than the minimum in it either way throughout a low scoring first half of the final at the Bellefield grounds.
Then Rathnure eased three points ahead after the interval through a combination of precision free-taking from a county star, Paul Codd, and a sparkling goal driven home by Marks Morrissey.
However, the last quarter was dominated by St Martin's, who retrieved the lead thanks to a quickfire 1-1 from Philip Murphy.
Insurance points followed from Robert Lambert, though the Piercestown outfit had to withstand a very exciting late rally from the champions.
As they surged forward in search of a goal, shots from Leon O'Connell, Trevor Hogan and Colm Byrne were kept at bay with a mixture of bravery and sheer desperation to give St Martin's their first title.
