Resilient UCD came from behind in both the semi-final and final, winning 3-2 in each game, to edge out DCU and Queen's, respectively, to carry off the Mauritius Cup at Glasnevin yesterday. It was the first time since 1981 for the trophy to return to Belfield.

Having ended DCU's ambitions with goals in the last few minutes by Andrew Jones and Rob McDonagh, it was only with four minutes to spare that Paul Fitzroy sank the winner against Queen's in the decider.

Queen's, though repulsed on several occasions by Donagh Gilhooly, had led twice through the alert finishing of Toby McMurray, assisted notably by Andrew Slane. But Jones roused UCD for Marcus Miller (after an elaborate short-corner switch) and Graham O'Meara (from a Mark Kingston rebound) to put away equalisers before Fitzroy pounced decisively after Alan McKibbin had saved a set-piece drive from McDonagh.

UCD: D Gilhooly; C Fitpatrick, P Thompson, M Miller, S Lovell; K Wilkinson, A Jones (capt), M Kingston; P Fitzoy, R McDonagh, G O'Meara.
