SAILING:AFTER SIX days at sea, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet is deep in the Southern Ocean having past the southern tip of Africa earlier in the week.
Spain’s Telefonica, skippered by Iker Martinez, is once again leading although Franck Cammas and the crew of Groupama are further south and could be best placed for collecting some true Southern Ocean weather.
In the coming days, the fleet will need to head north for the mystery port en route to Alicante. Sleigh-ride conditions are possible for those furthest south though it could be leg five through the deepest Southern Ocean before we see the wild conditions relayed from the boats.
