Sparked by a hole-in-one on the third hole, Bruce Fleisher fired a three-under-par 69 to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the FedEx Kinko's Classic.

Winless since the 2004 Bruno's Memorial Classic, the 57-year-old opened with two bogies before he aced the 188-yard third hole.

He added three birdies to finish at seven under 137 and will try to capture his 19th Champions Tour title.

Craig Stadler and David Edwards both fired rounds of 70 and are one shot back of Fleisher at the 6,879-yard Hills Country Club in Austin, Texas.

Stadler, who has not won since taking five Champions Tour victories two years ago, had two birdies in a bogey-free round.

Edwards, who is making his Champions Tour debut this weekend, eagled the 520-yard second hole and added two birdies and two bogeys.

Ireland's Des Smyth made six birdies on his first 10 holes before collapsing with a bogey on the 13th and a double-bogey on the 18th to finish with a 69 and tie Texas native Tom Kite for fourth place, two shots back.

Bob Gilder and England's Mark James posted 69s and are tied with Jay Haas in sixth place, three strokes off the pace.

Hale Irwin, who is still looking to win his 45th Champions Tour event and pick up a victory in his 12th straight season, fired a 70 and is six shots behind Fleisher.
