Former Garryowen, Saracens, Munster, Ireland and Lions wing Richard Wallace is proving equally successful in his career off the pitch. Having retired from first class rugby because of a series of injuries, the eldest of the three Wallace brothers - David and Paul are also internationals - decided to take to the skies on a serious level.
During his playing days Richard Wallace suffered under the sobriquet of the flying wing, because of his pilot's licence but is now pursuing a career in the latter sphere. Wallace will graduate from a British Aerospace course in Jerez, Spain on November 24th, having earned a commercial pilot's licence through the 18-month course. Brother David and his parents are due to fly down to Jerez for his graduation and to celebrate the achievement.
