Wexford 3-17; Offaly 2-7; Wexford were the dominant side from start to finish as they eliminated Offaly from this year's MHC with a comprehensive 13 point win in this provincial semi-final at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow yesterday evening.
Wexford's talented right full forward and captain Richard Flynn did most of the damage on the Offaly back-line, assembling a personal tally of 2-7 over the hour.
By half-time, Wexford held an unassailable 2-13 to 0-5 lead and the two second-half Offaly goals from corner forward Dylan Hayden and midfielder Stephen Delaney were only by way of consolation.
Though Wexford were strong and assured in their hurling, it has to be said Offaly provided only mediocre opposition and reigning provincial champions Kilkenny are certain to present a greater challenge in the Leinster final.
