MUNSTER FORWARDS coach Anthony Foley says there are plenty of places up for grabs in the side and that it is up to players to seize the opportunity during this hectic period of games.
Munster are in transition and Foley says the current run of 13 games in successive weeks gives a great opportunity to guys to stake a claim.
Munster, having lost three of their last games in the Pro 12, will hope to get back on track by gaining revenge on an Edinburgh side who turned them over 29-14 in September when they clash at Thomond Park tomorrow night.
“There still are places up for grabs within the team and these games give everybody an opportunity to put their case forward. A home game at Thomond Park on the back of what’s been a very good fortnight for us, gives a great opportunity so hopefully we’ll get massive support.
“Whatever side is selected, we all train together and all sit down and review and preview the opposition. Everyone understands what’s required and whatever guys get the run this weekend are getting the opportunity to put their case forward for selection,” said Foley.
Munster coach Tony McGahan has named a 34-man squad for the game, with Denis Fogarty and Peter O’Mahony recovering from injuries picked up in the dramatic win over Castres but named in the squad nonetheless.
Denis Leamy (hip) and Donnacha Ryan (toe) are ruled out but due back next week, while veteran scrumhalf Peter Stringer plays for the Barbarians against Australia.
