Danoli's trainer, Tom Foley, reacted angrily to Tommy Treacy's suspension at Navan yesterday and threatened not to run the horse in the Hennessy Gold Cup on February 8th.
"I have to see a tape of the race, but if I think Tommy Treacy is being blackguarded, I would be all for pulling our horse out of the Hennessy," Foley said.
"Three weeks is a long time for a young man to be out, but if it's a genuine case, then I'd be 100 per cent behind it. However, racing is often blackguarded by horses being pulled to be handicapped and nothing is done about it. Sometimes I'd love to put stewards and handicappers into a corner and ask them to explain some of the things they come up with," he added.
"If Tommy's appeal doesn't stand up, it means I'll have no jockey for the Hennessy. He's the lad that knows the horse, and, if I owned Danoli, he wouldn't run without Tommy. But that's not my decision. That is up to the owner," Foley concluded.
The trainer reported that Danoli is on course for the Hennessy and he is hoping for the weather to dry up to allow him to school the horse.
