A couple of weeks back we told you of the slightly mad Oliver Donelon's letter to Blackburn Rovers applying for the then vacant managerial post at the club. Blackburn politely rejected Oliver's application but now his agent Paul Horan tells us that he, undaunted, has applied for the job at Russian club Chernomorets Novorossiisk, who sacked their coach Vladimir Fedotov last week.
"The Chernomorets deserve better," Oliver declared at start of his letter, before pointing out his suitability for the job by mentioning that (1) "I have seen From Russia with Love and Dr Zhivago
several times, (2) "I once saw a documentary on Stalin" and (3) "I recently came into a large quantity of very high quality counterfeit Levis and I feel a trip to Russia would afford me an opportunity to offload these at maximum profit". Oliver is waiting by his phone as we speak - the funniest bit would be if he got the job.
