Fourth-round ties full of irony

The draw for the fourth round of the Irish Senior Cup is packed with irony

The draw for the fourth round of the Irish Senior Cup is packed with irony. After last Saturday's litany of Ulster successes at least two Leinster sides will still reach the quarter-finals, for the four Dublin first-division survivors will be involved in all-local ties on January 15th with Pembroke Wanderers at home to Railway Union and Corinthians meeting Avoca.

In addition, the only other Leinster team still standing, second-division Trinity, will be hosts to North Down if they beat Portadown in the remaining third-round tie on December 18th.

In contrast, two other last-16 pairings bring together four of Ulster's strongest sides, notably with Annadale or Instonians set to eliminate each other, as well as Lisnagarvey taking on Cookstown.

Furthermore, Mossley can have no hope in their trip to face the holders, Cork C of I, while Banbridge, though at home, will need the utmost respect for Harlequins. Cliftonville entertain Kilkeel to complete the proceedings.
