National League, Premier Division/Drogheda United 2 Sligo Rovers 2: A sensational equaliser deep into stoppage time saw Sligo Rovers take a point from their tussle with high-flying Drogheda at United Park yesterday. The home side appeared all set for the win, leading 2-1 and having dominated the match, but their failure to kill games off came back to haunt them again.
United took the lead early in the second half, were pegged back midway through, hit the front again within minutes, only to be denied at the death.
Just three minutes into the second half Drogheda's dominance was rewarded when Graham Gartland's ball from the right found Shane Barrett on the left corner of the box and he curled the ball round a defender.
Sligo drew level on 64 minutes when Fahrudihn Kudouzvic cut in from the left and laid the ball into the path of Adam Hughes, who cracked it to the top corner from the edge of the box.
Sligo held the lead for three minutes until Gartland got on the end of a free from the left to head home.
With the points seemingly in the bag and the three minutes' additional time up, Drogheda were stunned when full back Keith Foy picked up a clearance 25 yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable shot.
