The annual report of the Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club can lighten a dull day this time of year. The 2000 publication reports that the club does not intend to increase the catering levy from the existing £250 per year, as the executive believes the current levy is not unreasonable.
Not surprising, really, when you consider that the unused levy for the year to September 30th, 2000, amounted to £96,000, compared to £66,000 last year. That's right folks, the club picks up 96 grand due to people not using up their £250 catering levy by eating in the club. Half of the £96,000 total was accounted for by members who did not use the levy at all.
