The new financial package for clubs taking part in the All-Ireland League is being funded by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and not by Allied Irish Banks (AIB) as suggested in our report yesterday. The funding will come through the IRFU from a combination of AIB sponsorship, the participation by the provinces in the European Cup, other sponsorships and TV revenues. The total of grants to the 49 competing clubs is £965,000, with a further £121,000 in prize-money and the payment of some £300,000 to clubs for away-match expenses.
