CARLOW FOOTBALL:Carlow have revealed John Kearns as the county's new senior football manager.
A former goalkeeper for the Barrowsiders and the Éire Óg club, Kearns is the first Carlow native in 20 years to be given the county hot-seat. He takes over from Andy Shortall, who left the post a month ago. Meath's Seán Boylan will act as a consultant.
LEINSTER MHC:Laois hardly needed to come out of first gear to qualify for the second phase of the minor championship on Saturday - defeating Kildare 3-20 to 0-3.

MUNSTER MFC REPLAY:An uninterrupted six points during the last 11 minutes saw Tipperary overcome Clare 2-11 to 0-13 in the minor championship at Kilmallock.
Tipperary now meet Waterford for the right to play Cork in the Munster semi-final, with Kerry and Limerick through on the other side.
