The GAA is to be represented at a European Union related sports forum in Brussels on September 17th and 18th. The forum, entitled "Sport: A vehicle for the identity of regions and cities", will be chaired by IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch and will be attended by most of the top sports organisations in Europe.

Among those taking part will be the former West German soccer captain, Franz Beckenbauer, now the chairman of Bayern Munich, Franz Klammer, the former Olympic skiing champion, Dimitris Avramopoulos, the mayor of Athens, the hosts for the 2004 Olympic Games, Sir John Hall, the president of Newcastle United, and Jacques Lambert, the director general of the Organising Committee for the 1998 World Cup.

The GAA will be represented by Gerry Grogan, one of the senior stewards at Croke Park. There will be around 40 exhibition stands, including one setting out the activities of the association.
