The GAA has only just received the go-ahead for Saturday’s special congress to debate the future of the football championship.

Croke Park officials were awaiting word from Government on the precise nature of ongoing public health guidelines, in the light of the deteriorating Covid numbers, as the congress is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd, a day after all restrictions had been originally due to be lifted.

It is now confirmed as going ahead and likely that delegates will be required to show vaccination certificates before attending.

This uncertainty has impacted on briefing sessions for media, which will now go ahead on Wednesday when journalists will also need to have proof of vaccination.
