Peter Creedon’s Tipperary scored their fourth successive victory in the league with a seven-point win at a bitterly cold Semple Stadium yesterday.
Sunday week, Tipp travel to Offaly for what could be a winner-takes-all promotion clash.
Barry Grogan led the way in the scoring stakes for Tipp yesterday as the Aherlow hitman bagged 2-3 .
Grogan’s first-half brace helped Tipp to lead by 2-10 to 0-4 at the break and the game was effectively over.
Leitrim salvaged some pride by outscoring the hosts by 0-10 to 0-5 after half-time but this was a disappointing display, as their own promotion hopes disappear.
Creedon said: "We played some brilliant football in the first half. The second half petered out – we were sloppy."
