Wexford 1-8 Laois 0-14
Wexford were left to rue yet another inept display as they made an immediate drop back to Division Three as the result of this three-point defeat to Laois at Wexford Park.
Early points from Shane Roche and Ciarán Lyng for Wexford were cancelled out by points from Kevin Meaney and Pádraig McMahon for the the visitors.
Laois picked off some excellent points through Gary Walsh, Colm Begley, MJ Tierney and Ross Munnelly to ease into a 0-10 to 0-2 interval lead.
A goal from a penalty by Redmond Barry gave Wexford some hope after 39 minutes and made it 0-11 to 1-3.
Points by sub Paddy Byrne, PJ Banville (two) and a Roche free reduced the deficit to two points but that was as good as it got for Wexford.
Laois closed out the game with a neat Ross Munnelly point, to emerge with a three-point victory margin. Laois substitute sub Conor Boyle was dismissed late on for a second yellow card offence.
