St Loman’s/Mullingar 1-15 Castledaly 0-8
St Loman’s/Mullingar won the Westmeath senior football title for the fifth time in ideal conditions at Mullingar on Sunday afternoon with a fully deserved win 11-point win over a disappointing Castledaly outfit.
The sides were tied at 0-1 each when Offaly man Ken Casey rounded off a fine move with a great shot to the roof of the Castledaly net in the seventh minute. Westmeath players Paul Sharry and John Heslin were regularly to the fore for the Mullingar side who were full value for their seven-point lead at the interval (1-7 to 0-3).
Castledaly started the second half with a converted free by MJ McLoughlin but they never looked likely to eat into St Loman’s lead. Sharry continued to dictate the play and he also converted a brace of ‘45’s with great aplomb.
