Aughrim is a superb little village to visit, so long as you aren't part of a football squad that's already bleeding heavily. Sligo know this.

In 2011 they wandered into the Garden of Ireland only to be sent packing with a five- point loss.

Wicklow are a battle hardened qualifier team, so long as they get to be at home, with contributions of note to be expected from Paul Earls, Darren Hayden and James Stafford. Aaron Murphy can also be relied upon for a few scores, coming from corner back. Then there is Leighton Glynn. The Irish international's enormous value was re-emphasised when they put Offaly away on June 21st. Same goes for Seánie Furlong at the tip of their spear. The duo gathered 2-6 of the 3-12 total.

Injury worries

In stark contrast, Sligo manager Pat Flanagan needs David Kelly, Pat Hughes and Adrian Marren to recover from ankle and hamstring problems. Without them, especially Kelly, they can't possibly survive this ambush – even knowing where the snipers are hiding. Looking at the depth of quality in both squads, this might just be the high watermark for the season.
