Cork 2-18 Waterford 0-13

A strong burst in the final 25 minutes helped Cork to a second Munster SHL win in the space of four days as they beat Waterford at Mallow.

Having led by 0-11 to 0-8 at half-time, the Rebels found themselves pegged back as two Tommy Ryan points and one from Shane Bennett had Waterford level. However, three Pa Cronin frees gave Cork breathing space again and when sub William Leahy found the net soon after coming on, they led by five.

With Waterford’s attacking threat having receded, the closing stages were target-practice for Cork, with Cronin, Bill Cooper and Stephen Moylan on target while Cronin added a second goal at the death.
