The Meath county board have agreed to replay the Christy Ring Cup final against Antrim. Just not until June 18th.

An embarrassing error by the GAA last Saturday at Croke Park led to Meath being awarded the trophy despite the final finishing in a draw.

The Central Competitions Control Committee subsequently rescheduled the game for this Saturday in Newry at 7pm but “in the interest of player welfare” Meath stated they will replay the game Saturday week.

Meanwhile, The Gaelic Players Association have “welcomed the decision taken by a number of gambling companies to end the practice of offering betting opportunities on under 18 sports.”

“The GPA will continue to monitor the impact of practices associated with the gambling industry on our athletes, including the use of players and Gaelic games as vehicles to commercially market and promote their products in above and below the line marketing and advertising practices.”
