Offaly have been handed a home draw against Waterford in the preliminary round of the Hurling Championship Qualifiers following their defeat to All-Ireland champions Kilkenny on Sunday.
Ollie Baker’s side scored four goals in Tullamore, but Brian Cody’s side were able to up their performance in the second half to win by 0-26 to 4-9.
Baker's former team-mate Davy Fitzgerald led Clare to a 2-20 to 1-15 victory over Waterford in their Munster SHC quarter-final clash in Thurles at the start of the month.
The other preliminary round ties will see the losers of the replayed Leinster SHC game between Dublin and Wexford at home to Antrim, while London will host Westmeath.
Dublin drew with Wexford at Wexford Park last Saturday night and the two sides will meet against at Parnell Park next Saturday night at 7.0pm.
The phase one ties were also drawn today with the winner of the the Wexford/Dublin v Armagh game playing a home tie against Carlow, who received a bye through the preliminary round, while London or Westmeath are home to the winners of the Offaly v Waterford clash.
The draw was composed of teams beaten before the semi-final stages of the provincial championships, so Tipperary, who were beaten by Limerick yesterday in the Munster semi-final, were not in the draw.
