KEVIN HYNES, one of Galway’s most promising young stars who missed making his championship debut last year because of a broken jaw, has been drafted in by manager John McIntyre for Sunday’s Walsh Cup semi-final against Wexford.
Hynes, who captained Galway to the 2007 All-Ireland under-21 title, has been selected at midfield for Sunday’s game in New Ross. Hynes emerged on the scene a year ago and nailed down a midfield spot during the National League. However, his intercounty season ended when he suffered a broken jaw in a club match.
Paul Killilea, who made his debut last Sunday, drops to the substitutes to make way for Hynes, who will partner Eoin Forde at midfield with David Tierney moving to wing forward.
The Wexford team shows just two changes from that which eventually overcame UCD last weekend. Goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry returns and James Tonks continues at wing back having replaced the injured Ciarán Kenny last week.
