Galway - 3-15 Tipperary - 4-10Holders Galway staged a sensational rally in the dying minutes of the All-Ireland Vocational Schools Inter-county hurling final at Thurles yesterday, scoring three goals in three minutes for a marvellous win over shell-shocked Tipperary.

Galway's 15th title looked most unlikely as they trailed by eight points with six minutes to play. Tipperary dominated the first half and led 3-4 to 0-6 at the interval.

Mark Ryan had their first goal in the seventh minute but in injury-time Ryan and Graham McMahon added further goals to put Tipperary in the driving seat.

Galway came back well in the third quarter to cut the lead to five points but a Jonathan Gleeson goal the 18th minute looked like securing a Tipperary win. However, with two minutes to play Cathal Dervan netted for Galway. In the 30th minute Kenneth Burke struck again and as then in injury time John Brady bagged a third.
