GALWAY won their sixth All-Ireland minor camogie title when they held off the challenge of a game Tipperary side in a thriller at Thurles yesterday.
Galway were the dominant side in the first half when helped by the breeze. Goals by Sandra Tannian in the eighth minute and Colette Nevin in the 24th helped them to an interval lead of 2-8 to 1-5, Catherina Hennessy getting Tipperary's goal in the 18th minute.
A Sheena Howard goal for Tipperary six minutes after the break started the Tipperary rally and a Siobhan Ryan goal six minutes from the end brought them within two points of Galway. However, Colette Nevin netted for Galway three minutes from time to seal their victory.
