Celtic manager Martin O'Neill last night pleaded with the Scottish Football League not to force his side to play nine games next month after their League Cup game at Livingston was called off due to a power failure before the start.

The SFL have set their sights on a date of December 11th or 12th - but that would mean the two Premier League sides facing each other three times in 14 days.

Meanwhile, Juventus's home Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen last night was postponed for the second successive week due to fog.

Referee Urs Meier inspected the pitch and checked visibility in the early evening but with Turin still shrouded in fog, the Swiss official had no choice but to call off the encounter.
