Galway's Rory Gantley was voted man of the match after inspiring Ireland to their first win in six years over Scotland in the hurling Shinty international at Croke Park yesterday. Gantley chalked up a total of 21 points, his tally consisting of six overs worth 18 points and three behinds valued at three points.
The scoring system as used in the international rules series was used for the first time and the DJ Carey-led Ireland won by two goals, 10 overs and 15 behinds to three goals, three overs and five behinds.
