Sigerson Cup / Garda College 2-8 Trinity College 0-8:A strong finish by Garda College, Templemore, brought them victory in the first round of the Sigerson Cup in Templemore yesterday.
Garda got off to a great start with a goal from Darren Rooney but Trinity stormed back to take the lead by the 17th minute. Garda, however, led at the interval by 1-3 to 0-5.
Their lead could have been more had Brendan Phillips converted a 33rd-minute penalty. Trinity retook the lead through John Prenty but Johnny Madden's goal midway through the half sealed victory for Garda.
